News Americas, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, Fri. Nov. 17, 2017: Nationals of 5 Caribbean nations accounted for the most non-immigrant visitors to the US so far this year, latest U.S. Department of Homeland Security data show. A News Americas analysis shows nationals of the following countries made up the most B-1/B-2 visitors this year:
1: The Dominican Republic
The Spanish Caribbean nation of the Dominican Republic outpaced other nations with the most visitors so far this year. More than 208,000 DR nations came to the US as visitors in the first half of fiscal year 2017 alone.
2:Â Jamaica
So far this fiscal year, more than 141,000 Jamaican came to the US as non-immigrant visitors, the second highest of any Caribbean nation.
3: The Bahamas
Taking the number three spot is The Bahamas. Over 135,000 Bahamians came to the US in the first half of fiscal year 2017 alone on visitor’s visas.
4: Trinidad & Tobago
Nationals from Trinidad & Tobago accounted for the fourth largest number of Caribbean visitors to the US so far this year – a whopping 86,757.
5: Haiti
Rounding out the top five is Haiti. Haitians accounted for the fifth highest number of Caribbean visitors to the US this fiscal year. That number was put at over 71,000 according to DHS data.
