News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Oct. 13, 2017: A 91-year-old Jamaican immigrant is dead and his 100-year-old wife traumatized after burglars invaded their Brooklyn, NY home looking for valuables.
Waldiman Thompson and his wife, Ethlin lived in their Bedford-Stuyvesant brownstone in NYC for decades, but on Wednesday October 11, 2017, at about 3:15 p.m., four men broke into their home on Decatur St. near Marcus Garvey Blvd.
They threw a blanket over Ethlin Thompson’s head and tied the pair both up and started rummaging through the home.
Mrs. Thompson managed to free herself and leave the house after the thieves left, then called 911.
Cops arriving on the scene found Mr. Thompson tied up and unconscious inside the house. He was rushed to Interfaith Medical Center, where he died at 4:20 p.m.
The Thompsons were married for 30 years.
Mr. Thompson used to work as a welder and a locksmith. Ethlin Thompson is a missionary and retired nurse. Their four adult children live in Florida, according to the New York Daily News.
