News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. April 1, 2016: Chances are you more likely have had Patrón Spirits, including their Tequila and Ultimat Vodka, than Pyrat Rum.
Yet, the very sexy bottled Pyrat Rum XO Reserve is owned by Patrón Spirits, the company created in 1989 by John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley, but made in the Caribbean.
When Pyrat was first launched in 1997, it was produced by the Anguilla Rums Company. But recently, production moved to the South American nation of Guyana – specifically the Diamond Bottling Plant owned by Demerara Distillers Ltd. (DDL).
Pyrat Rum has installed their own private bottling line within the Diamond plant but is primarily a blended and bottled Guyana blend of 2-year-old Demerara rum stock and other stocks sourced from various Caribbean producers, giving it a distinct orange/tangerine flavor profile.
The rum stands out because of its bottle with very vivid orange ribbon tied around the neck and a pewter medallion featuring Hoti, who is identified on the Pyrat Rum website as the Patron Saint of Bartenders and a symbol of the spirit of enlightenment.
The handcrafted bottle is reportedly designed to be similar in style to the original rum decanters which were used hundreds of years ago by Sea Captains and Pirates.
Pyrat Rum XO Reserve is sold for under USD27 per bottle and is available at many US bars.
Patrón Spirits is one of the fastest-growing companies in the ultra-premium beverage alcohol industry. Patrón’s portfolio of liquors are available in over 130 countries across the globe, and sold at duty free outlets in major world airports.
