News Americas, BRASILIA, Brazil, Fri. July 8, 2011: Brazil’s Dilma Rousseff’s cabinet has been hit by another scandalous allegation of corruption by one of her ministers.

Transport Minister Alfredo Nascimento this week resigned in the wake of a media expose which revealed that his staff were lining their pockets by demanding fat sums for awarding federal infrastructure contracts.

Nascimento is the second member of the Rousseff Cabinet to step down following last month’s resignation of the President’s Chief of Staff Antonio Palocci.
Palocci resigned after questions arose over his huge personal wealth which was disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Brazil’s transport ministry is currently handling multi-billion-dollar projects for infrastructure development, many linked to the upcoming 2014 football World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
