News Americas, LOS ANGELES, CA, Mon. Jan. 11, 2016: It was a big night for Latin Americans in film at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards last night, Jan. 10, 2016.
Mexican actor Gael García Bernal won the Best Actor in a TV Comedy or Musical Golden Globe for his work as Rodrigo de Souza on Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle.
“I want to dedicate this to music, to all the people that play their music, [the] common ground for communication, for justice, for happiness,” Bernal said in his acceptance speech. The 37-year-old also directs and founded Canana Films in Mexico City.
Meanwhile, Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu won Best Director for the motion picture drama “The Revenant” and “The Revenant” also won Best Motion Picture Drama while Guatemalan actor Oscar Isaac took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a limited series or motion picture for his role in the HBO movie “Show Me A Hero.”
