News Americas, BROOKLYN, NY, Fri. Oct. 25, 2013: Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes may be facing a barrage of criticism for deciding to run as a Republican against Ken Thompson, the man who beat him soundly in the Democratic Primary election in September. But Hynes is not giving up – turning to reggae music as a campaign tool.
Hynes, who has been celebrated at many Caribbean events, released the song by Jamaican artist Chris Howell this week.
“Charles Hynes, represent!” the singer declares in the reggae infused rhythm. “Charles Hynes! Charles Hynes, my district attorney from Brooklyn! Mr. Hynes, he think of his fellow man, lend out his helping hand, Mr. Hynes have love in his heart!”

Hynes will face attorney Thompson in the November 5 election on the Republican and Conservative party lines.
He also released Hynes a radio ad entitled ‘Beat Corruption’ this week as he called on Thompson to release his tax returns. The 60 second spot is the first component of a comprehensive media plan that will highlight the key issue in this race: keeping corruption out of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.
The spot was produced by Paul Swibinski of Vision Media and will run on local radio stations throughout Brooklyn.
Hynes was elected to office in 1989 and is serving his sixth term.
