June 13, 2019: As we mark the 13th day of Caribbean American Heritage Month 2019, did you know that among the Caribbean immigrants who made a lasting contribution was “Arthur” Alfonso Schomburg who had settled in New York in 1891? He was active in black nationalist causes and amassed books and other materials on Africa and its Diaspora that formed the basis of the collections of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
