News Americas, LONDON, England, Fri. Sept. 21, 2012: Seven Caribbean-born artists are among those nominated for this year’s Music of Black Origin, (MOBO), awards.
Among the nominees are Rihanna and Nicki Miniaj, who have been nominated in the Best International Act category.
Those vying for the Best Reggae Act award are Popcaan, Sean Paul, Konshens, Damian Marley and Mr. Vegas.
The nominees for this year’s annual award ceremony were named on September 17th.
Established in 1996 to recognize artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing ‘urban’ music, MOBO is the only black award show in Europe.
“Feels good to be nominated for any award that recognizes quality and consistency in work, but honestly its not that big a deal for me…I’m more excited when a regular person gives me their REAL feedback on twitter,” said Konshens in commenting on the award.
