News Americas, MIAMI, FL, Tues. Aug. 14, 2018: A Caribbean-born Donald Trump supporter and Republican candidate for Florida’s House District 23, has gotten in hot water with her own party which has now dubbed her a “racist.”
Jamaican immigrant Carla Spalding was trying hard to convince GOP voters at an Americans For Trump-Broward event why they should vote for her this August 28th but her diatribe soon turned racist.
Video on twitter posted by MAGA Now show the 49-year-old stating that she can get Democratic voters who are nurses and teachers to vote for her but “they are not going to vote for an old white man in the certain communities. That’s a fact.”
As the audience gasped she continued confidently stating: “It doesn’t matter. I don’t care what you say.”
Spalding is running against Joe Kaufman, 48, who is white, and Carlos Reyes, 59, who is Hispanic.
The comment has elicited a lot of criticism from Republican voters on social media with some posting comments like “Carla Spalding is a big racist, like all Democrats” and: “If making a racial statement can get Roseanne fired, it should be a factor for you in your attempt to represent EVERYONE in your district.”
Joe Budd, president of Palm Beach County’s Trump Club, told the Sun Sentinel Spalding’s comment was “absolutely out of line.”
“It’s a discriminatory racist comment,” he was quoted as saying. “When I heard her say that, I was just shocked.”
Spalding meanwhile, has since shut down her Facebook page because of the backlash from her fellow GOPers but not before posting a comment that added that she was perhaps not “politically correct” in explaining why Kaufman isn’t a viable candidate.
But she doubled down by adding that “it’s still the truth.”
Meanwhile, on her website, Spalding has posted photos of her on the “red carpet at Mar-A-Lago”
