Jamaica company Grace Foods has launched a Caribbean meal kit in Tesco, a British multinational groceries and general merchandise retailer headquartered in Welwyn Garden City, England. It is the third-largest retailer in the world measured by gross revenues and the ninth largest in the world by revenues.

The range of the Irie Eats meal kits includes a microwaveable rice & peas side. Prices ranges between £1.75-£3.50/250g-515g. Others are:

  • Irie Eats Spicy Jerk Wrap Kit (RRP £3.50, 460g) – Kit includes: x8 Soft Flour Wraps, x1 Jerk Paste sachet and x1 Jerk Seasoning sachet.
  • Irie Eats Crunchy Jerk Wrap Kit (RRP £3.50, 515g) – Kit includes: x8 Soft Flour Wraps, x1 Jerk BBQ Sauce sachet and x1 Crunchy Jerk Coating sachet.
  • Irie Eats Spicy Jerk Meal Kit (RRP £3.50, 390g) – Kit includes: x1 microwave Rice & Peas pack, x1 Jerk Paste sachet and x1 Jerk Seasoning sachet.
  • Irie Eats Caribbean Curry Meal Kit (RRP £3.50, 380g) – Kit includes: x1 microwave Rice & Peas pack, x1 Caribbean Curry Sauce sachet and x1 Herb & Coconut Mix sachet.

All products, according to Grace, are suitable for vegans and anyone can follow a simple five-step process to get the kits ready to serve.

Grace Foods cited 2021 Mintel data, which revealed that nearly half or 49% of Brits said they would like to try Caribbean cuisine at home.

“This is a significant and exciting opportunity for us to introduce authentic, traditional and flavorful Caribbean meal solutions to a new consumer audience,” Grace Foods brand manager Giuseppe Vullo was quoted as saying. “We’re excited to continue building awareness of Caribbean food in the UK market, providing a delicious and easy-to-use range inspired by classic island favorites.”

Irie Eats is available from August 11th exclusively in Tesco stores nationwide with wider distribution from December.
