News Americas, TORONTO, Canada, Fri. May 4, 2023: This August in Toronto will be a spicy, hot one!

The TD International Jerk Food and Music Festival is back with a bang in 2023, boasting a new charity initiative and featuring two iconic headliners. R&B legend Johnny Gill will take the stage on Friday’s R&B Night, while Roots Reggae legend Luciano will headline on Saturday and Sunday’s Caribbean nights.

The festival will be held from August 11-13, 2023, at Centennial Park in Etobicoke, preceded by the annual TD JerkFest Boat Cruise on August 10th. In addition to offering world-class performances, the event will also feature Caribbean food, art, and community vendors.

Anthony Plummer, Founder and Executive Director of Caribbean Promotions Arts and Culture Inc., expressed excitement about this year’s festival and announced that the rest of the lineup will be unveiled over the next few weeks. He also highlighted the festival’s new charity initiative, Helping Hands Jamaica, which aims to build a new school and educate the next generation of children in Jamaica. Donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt, and patrons are encouraged to visit the JerkFest website to donate.

TD Bank Group, which has supported TD JerkFest through its corporate citizenship platform, the TD Ready Commitment, will continue to help amplify diverse voices of artists from the communities it serves toward a positive impact on how people feel through music. Robyn Small, Senior Manager, Philanthropy, Sustainability & Corporate Citizenship, TD Bank Group, noted that the festival helps to create shared experiences that bring people together through a love of music, fostering a sense of belonging for people from diverse backgrounds.

The TD JerkFest has a history of giving back to the community, with scholarships, international donations, and support for local food banks. Last year’s festival, the first to take place in-person since the pandemic, was a massive success, attracting a record-breaking attendance of over 20,000 people on Saturday alone. The 2022 TD JerkFest food drive provided $10,000 and food donations to Afri-Can and Regeneration MarketPlace ahead of Thanksgiving, and both charities will receive donations again this year during the customer appreciation initiative that lowers the entry price with a donation of canned goods or non-perishable food.
