News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Sept. 16, 2016: While Bloomberg News has reported that the Caribbean is running out of coconuts, the reality is no Caribbean country is in the top 10 coconut producing nations in the world.

There are only two in the top 20. They are:

1: Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is the top producing Caribbean nation in the region with an annual production rate of 333,630 as of 2014.

2: Jamaica

Jamaica is the second top producing Caribbean nation in the region. The country produced 250,000 per year as of 2014.

Other Caribbean countries lagged way behind. They are as follows:

3: Guyana

Guyana was at third with just 78,750 in 2014.

4: Cuba

Cuba was fourth with just 63,261 as of 2014.

5: Haiti

Haiti rounded out the top five with just 27,940 as of 2014.

The number one coconut producing country in the world is Indonesia with 18,300,000. They are followed by the Philippines with 15,353,200; India     with 11,930,000; Brazil with 2,890,286 and Sri Lanka with 2,513,000.
