News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Feb. 9, 2018: Split Pea soup is a very nutritious soup and as we enjoy the winter months, soup is a great meal to stave off the cold temperature and keep the body strong. Below is my recipe for Jamaican Split Pea soup.

INGREDIENTS
1lb salted pigtail (cooked and cut in small pieces)
4 cups yellow split peas
4 cloves garlic
10 cups water
1 small onion
1 scotch bonnet pepper
2 cups Flour
2 lbs  Yellow Yam
1/2 lb Scallion
Thyme
8 Pimento seeds
Salt

METHOD
In a large heavy pot, put all the ingredients except dumplings, yam  and thyme to cook.

When the split pea is cooked add the dumplings and yellow yam.

Boil until all ingredients are cooked through.
Add thyme and more salt if needed.
Cook for 5 additional minutes.

Serve hot.

Bon Appetite.
