News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Nov. 1, 2019:  This week we take you on a culinary journey to Guyana where the tennis roll is a popular type of bread, especially served with cheese. Here’s how to make it.
INGREDIENTS
3 cups all-purpose flour
½ whole wheat flour
 3/4 cup warm water
 1/2 cup warm milk
 1/4 cup butter
 1/4 cup sugar
 1 Tbsp. yeast
 1 tsp. salt
 1/2 tsp. vanilla essence

METHOD

Activate the yeast by adding it to warm water and letting it sit for 10 minutes, covered with a towel.

Add all the rest of the ingredients – except the flour – into the yeast mixture and stir well.

Add the two types of flour to a bowl and add the liquid mixture a bit at a time to form a dough.

Knead the dough for about 10-12 minutes.

Cover and set aside to rest for 45 mins.

Roll out dough into a long piece, cut into pieces and make into balls.

Cover and let rest for 35 minutes.

Place into an oiled and lightly floured baking pan and bake at 375 F for 20 mins.

Brush on top with sugar water and let it cool.

Enjoy warm or cold with cheese and butter inserted into a roll cut in the center!

Bon Appetite.
