Cartel Leader Nabbed In Mexico

News Americas, MEXICO CITY, Mexico, Tues. July 26, 2011: An alleged drug cartel leader has been nabbed by Mexico police, authorities disclosed Monday.

Security officials said 33-year-old Bulmaro Salinas Munoz, alias “El Men,” the apparent leader of the Knights Templar drug cartel, was arrested in Morelia, Mexico on Sunday.

Munoz is believed to have taken over as cartel boss of the Knights Templar in 2010.

Munoz is accused of extortion, kidnapping and involvement in the murder of 21 people. He allegedly began his career in another drug cartel La Familia Michoacana.

The Knights Templar is suspected of killing 23 people in mid-June, leaving bodies across Michoacan with threatening notes for rivals.
