News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Oct. 16, 2017: The daughter of a famed former West Indian cricket captain has slammed back at trolls who have called her a ‘bastard child’ and ‘illegitimate West Indian’ on Twitter.

Masaba Gupta, the love child of actor Neena Gupta and famed West Indian skipper and batsman Viv Richards has hit back at Internet trolls after she was subjected to the repulsive comments for supporting the Indian Supreme Court’s ban on the sale of firecrackers in Delhi.

Gupta, a major fashion designer in India, slammed back that she is “…a proud Indo-Caribbean girl who doesn’t know how to shrink & crumble in shame of something you or your society cannot handle.”

In a note posted by her on Twitter, Gupta said the stereotypes “only makes my chest swell with pride” because it is “just in my ‘illegitimate’ genes.”

“I’m the illegitimate product of two of the MOST legitimate personalities you’ll find and I’ve made the best life, both personally and professionally out of it, which I am proud of,” she posted.

Gupta added that she has “been called these names since I was 10 years old and ever since I could read the newspaper.”

But she noted, “… these are two words that I am immune to.”

And she added: “My legitimacy comes from the work I do and what my contribution to society has been. And you can try but you will not be able to raise a single finger on either of the two. So please, if you

must, go ahead and continue calling me these names if it makes you feel glorious.”

Masaba Gupta, 28, grew up in Mumbai. At 19, she applied for Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai with support from Wendell Rodricks. She named her first collection Kattran. She specializes in ethnic wear for women and her choice of fabric material, colors and prints includes silk, chiffon and cotton apart from rich embroidery work.

Gupta has made the Top Ten list of “the best Indian fashion designers.” She married film producer Madhu Mantena June 2, 2015 in a court marriage.
