During Tuesday night’s roll call, delegates from Puerto Rico proudly cast their 55 votes for Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, while referring to the island as “the commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the next state of the United States.” The roll call was accompanied by the hit song “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

The Virgin Islands’ delegation, accompanied by the song “VI to the Bone” by Mic Love, cast their seven votes for Harris, further solidifying her path to the nomination.

The event followed the traditional roll call format, with states and territories going in alphabetical order to pledge their delegates. However, this year featured special slots for President Joe Biden’s home state of Delaware, Walz’s Minnesota delegation, and Harris’ California delegation, making the night even more significant.
