News Americas, NEW YORK, NY,Thurs. Oct. 10, 2013: With the clock in the back ground saying 34:32:49, swimmer Diana Nyad, swam for 48 hrs in front of Macy’s, on Broadway, in New York City, to raise money for the victims of the Sandy storm in the ‘Swim for Relief’ to support Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. She began her swim on Tuesday, October 8th.

“It honestly was tougher than I ever imagined it to be,” the 64-year-old Nyad said as she emerged from the pool at 8:48 a.m. on Thursday, October 10th. Her words were drowned out by the crowd’s whooping, claps and cheers. The effort raised some $84,000.
