News Americas, BRONX, NY, Sat. June 20, 2015: Let’s give a cheer to Yankees’ baseball star Alex Rodriguez who made history on Friday night at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, NY.
A-Rod, the son of a Dominican family, became only the 29th member of the 3,000-hit club in baseball history. His 3,000th hit was a first-inning solo home run off Justin Verlander of the Tigers.
The hit puts Rodriguez on equal footing with Roberto Clemente for 28th all-time with exactly 3,000 career hits.
He is also only the second player to record their 3,000th hit with the Yankees, joining Derek Jeter.
Rodriguez has recorded 1,465 of his career hits with the Yankees, 966 with the Mariners and 569 with the Rangers. He is also just the third person to homer for his 3,000th hit.
