News Americas, PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Mon. July 27, 2015: Just one of three prisoners who escaped from a Port of Spain Prison on Friday now remain on the lam.

Christopher “Monster” Selby, 30, who was in prison on murder charges according to Trinidad police, is still at large.

He along with Christopher “Monster” Selby, 30, and Allan “Scanny” Martin, 42, shot their way out of the prison Friday armed with two pistols and a hand grenade. They reportedly ordered the prison gate open and escaped in a four-wheel-drive Nissan Navara, which was parked outside.

The day time prison escape led to the shutdown of parts of Port-of-Spain.

While Selby is on the lam, Atwell and Martin are both now deceased. Martin was shot and killed by police following an exchange of gunfire on the compound of the Port of Spain General Hospital while seeking to elude capture.

He was a co-accused in the murder of businesswoman, Vindra Naipaul-Coolman, who was abducted on December 19th, 2006. Her body was never found.

During the escape, Police Constable, Sherman Maynard, who was on duty outside the prison was shot by the escapees. He later died at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

Atwell’s bullet ridden body was found early Sunday morning. He had a string of outstanding offences against him involving kidnapping, possession of firearm, robbery and sexual assault.

Atwell was in custody pending extradition to the United States to face charges of conspiracy to engage in hostage taking, hostage taking and aiding and abetting the taking of a hostage.

Members of the Trinidad public are being asked to be on the lookout for Selby who is deemed to be armed and dangerous and should contact the police with information at 999, 555 or any police station.  Selby also faces two counts of murder unrelated to the Vindra Naipaul-Coolman case.
