News Americas, FLUSHING, NY, Tues. Aug. 27, 2013: Roger Federer, the No. 7 seed, is now into the second round of the US Open.
Federer today eased pass Grega Zemlja, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5, at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, NY.
The win means Federer’s streak of 38 consecutive Grand Slam second rounds remains intact. “Overall I’m pleased to be in the next round,” Federer said after the match while admitting he decided “to play aggressive” and it was “more of a serving contest.”
His next task will be Argentina’s Carlos Berlocq, who battled through five sets against fellow clay-courter Santiago Giraldo of Colombia.
