News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. Oct. 24, 2019: Five Caribbean countries were rattled by earthquakes Wednesday.
According to the UWI Seismic Unit, Martinique, St. Lucia and Dominica were all shaken by a magnitude 3.9 earthquake at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The quake occurred 106 km NE of Fort-de-France, Martinique; 135 km ESE of Roseau, Dominica and 138 km NE of Castries, Saint Lucia.
Meanwhile, the US Geological Survey said Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic were rattled by a combined total of 10 quakes yesterday.
Two ranging from 3.6 to 3.4 on the seismic scale occurred in the Dominican Republic while 8 ranging from a magnitude 3.1, 3 and 2.9 occurred in Puerto Rico. Most were in San Antonio and Isabela while a magnitude 3.0 quake occurred in Vieques.
