News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Aug. 12, 2011: Guyanese looking to meet their President this weekend will have the opportunity to do that in Queens, NY for a fee.
A group calling themselves The Association of Concerned Guyanese along with the New York Youths for the PPP/C (Peoples Progressive Party/Civic), will host President Bharrat Jagdeo and the incumbent party Presidential candidate, Donald Ramotar, at a “Mix and Mingle” in Queens Village, NY this Sunday, Aug. 14th.
Tickets are being sold at $50 a pop for the 3 p.m. event at 227-15 106th Avenue, News Americas has learnt and can be obtained from the Hibiscus Restaurant in Richmond Hill Queens or Bhola Travel. Another fundraiser is reportedly set for Westchester as well and reports reaching NAN indicate the Guyana Consulate is actively calling many Indo-Guyanese business owners to “come and meet the President.”
Guyana’s election is constitutionally due this year and the incumbent PPP/C is now facing opposition from a coalition called APNU in the run up to the election.
