News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. June 10, 2016: Guyana’s 50th jubilee celebration continues this weekend in New York City with the country’s President, Brigadier David Granger.
President Granger is set to travel to New York City this weekend to deliver the keynote address at a State Dinner on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 8 p.m., at the Sheraton New York Time Square Hotel & Towers in Manhattan.
Actress CCH Pounder will serve as the mistress of ceremonies while former Leader of the British House of Lords and current President of SOAS University of London, Baroness Valerie Amos and several ministers of the government of Guyana will be among the guests of honor.

The New York jubilee celebration commenced with an Interfaith Service at York College on June 4th and will conclude on Sunday, June 12th with an Independence Parade and Unity Concert at the South Shore High School Park: 6565 Flatlands Ave at Ralph Ave, Brooklyn, NY.
The parade will start at 11:30 a.m., at the intersection of Church & Utica Avenues and will proceed west on Church Avenue, south into Ralph Avenue and ends at South Shore High School Park at Ralph & Flatlands Avenues, Brooklyn, where there will be a grand Unity Concert.
Guyana, a former British colony, became an independent nation on May 26, 1966.
