News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Weds. Aug. 15, 2012: Miss Guyana, Arti Cameron, is the winner of the official Miss World 2012 People’s Choice Award.
Cameron, whose journey to the China Miss World pageant was beset by many hurdles, won the award with over 7,000 votes in a poll conducted by Missosology. Nepal’s Shristi Shrestha & Slovenia’s Nives Orešnik placed second and third respectively.
The other top 10 winners were Philippines with fourth, Barbados at fifth, Jamaica at sixth and Albania and Georgia at seventh and eighth, respectively. The Bahamas and St. Kitts & Nevis were ninth and tenth.
The new Miss World 2012 will be chosen on August 18, 2012 at the Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium in Ordos, China. One hundred and sixtten contestants from all over the world competed for the crown, marking the biggest turnout in the pageant’s history. Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Contestants from the Americas competing for the coveted title are from Aruba, Guyana, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, Belize, Bermuda, Chile, Costa Rica, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Peru, Panama, St. Kitt/Nevis, Suriname, US Virgin Islands, Venezuela.
