News Americas, PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, Thurs. Aug. 11, 2011: Haiti’s President Michel Martelly is set to be in Chile today.

Martelly will travel to the South American nation today, August 11th in response to the official invitation from Alfredo Moreno, the Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Martelly will be received at the “Palacio de la Moneda” where he will meet the Chilean President, Miguel Juan Sebastián Piñera Echenique and discuss broadening cooperation between the two countries in areas such as safety, health and education.

Chile deployed 500 soldiers to Haiti under the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah) and since the earthquake of January 2010, Chile has always pitched in to help Haiti.

Martelly will also travel to Argentina Friday in response to the invitation of the President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, transmitted by Hector Timerman, the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs.
