News Americas, BOSTON, MA, Fri. Mar. 27, 2015: A 60-year-old Haitian national has been fined $1,000 and ordered to pay more than $6,300 in restitution for disrupting an American Airlines flight.

Edmond Alexandre, 60, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Boston on Friday to a year of probation as well for disrupting the American Airlines flight from Miami to Paris in August 2014.

Alexandre, who was living in Paris at the time, became disruptive and started arguing with other passengers, according to federal prosecutors.

Federal air marshals, who were already on the plane, intervened immediately and subdued Alexandre. The captain of the plane diverted the flight to Logan Airport in Boston, where authorities removed Alexandre from the plane and took him into custody. The flight was later cleared to depart for Paris.
