News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Sept. 6, 2013: The musical genre of reggae has a new singer and he like Snoop Lion has no Jamaican roots.

Famed actor Eddie Murphy, known for roles in movies like “Coming To America,” has released a reggae/rock song titled simply: “Red Light.”

The song is on his new album ‘9’ and is a collaboration with Snoop, who remains at number one on the Billboard Reggae charts since his entry 20 weeks ago.

The link to the song was provided via his official Twitter page Wednesday. Listen to the song here.

Murphy’s last music hit was 1985’s ‘Party All the Time,’which was placed on VH1’s list of 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders.

The official music video for “Red Light” will be premiered on Vevo on September 9th, and will be available for purchase on iTunes.

Reggae is a music genre first developed in Jamaica in the late 1960s. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term reggae more properly denotes a particular music style that evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady.
