“It is incredibly painful because we knew we could get there, we knew we had conditions to go further, to make history,” Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, 26, said.
Brazil lost to Belgium on Friday, July 6, 2018, 1-2 in a shock that silenced many fans around the world and left many more in tears.
The Paris Saint-Germain player also said he is having “a hard to find the strength to play soccer again.”
But he said he is focusing on faith, adding: “God will give me strength enough to face anything, so I’ll never stop thanking God, even in defeat.”
“Because I know that your way is much better than mine,” he added. “Our dream was interrupted but they didn’t get it out of our head or our hearts.”
