The Brooklyn-born singer of songs like “Play Me” and “Sweet Caroline” has announced his engagement to his manager, Katie McNeil Diamond, 70, took to Twitter to announce the engagement to McNeil, who executive produced a 2009 documentary about him.
“Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you’re the first I want to tell/ Katie & I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well,” he wrote, while also posting a photo of McNeil taken in London last month.
“I’d like you to meet Katie,” he added. “I’m lovestruck.”
Diamond first married his high school sweetheart, school teacher Jayne “Posey” Posner, in 1963. They had two daughters, Marjorie and Elyn, before they divorced in 1969. In December 1969, Diamond married Marcia Murphey, a production assistant; they also had two children, both sons, Jesse and Micah. Diamond’s second marriage ended in 1995.
