News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. July 3, 2014: Jamaica’s Tessanne Chin released her post-Voice album, Count on My Love, this week and it has already made the top ten on the ITunes chart.
A little more than six months ago, Chin won Season 5 of The Voice. She released the album quietly on Republic Records/Universal Republic on July 1 via ITunes and as a physical CD at Wal-Mart while doing most of the promotional heavy lifting herself via social media, with no radio play, music video, or TV appearances. The album in now number 9 on ITunes.
The album includes the songs ‘Tumbling Down,’ which was co-written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, who has penned songs for Kelly Clarkson, James Blunt and Demi Lovato; ‘Everything Reminds Me of You,’ which feature production by fellow Jamaican Dwayne Chin-Quee also known as Supa Dups; ‘Count on My Love,’ which incorporates the polished sounds of techno-pop into reggae, recreating a technoreggae sound while legendary writer Diane Warren (Whitney Houston, Celine Dion & Mariah Carey) takes a recess from her signature balladry style with the contribution on the reggae influenced “I Heart You.” The album also includes ‘Loudest Silence,’ in which Chin laments the breakdown of communication in a decaying relationship; ‘People Change,’ another song that deals with the regrets associated with the closure of a relationship and ‘Heaven Knows,’ ‘One Step Closer,’ ‘Always Tomorrow’ and ‘Lifeline.’
On her Facebook page, the Jamaican singer called the release: “One of my proudest moments EVER!!!” Chin is currently on The Voice Tour with fellow Season 5 finalists Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin, Season 6 contestants Josh Kaufman, Jake Worthington, Christina Grimmie, Kristen Merlin, and Jake Barker, and Season 1 runner-up Dia Frampton.
