News Americas, LONDON, England, Weds. July 12, 2011: A British-born actress with Jamaican roots could be part of the cast of the next Bond film.

Producers of the popular film series have reportedly met with Naomie Harris, best known for her turns in 28 Days Later and the Pirates of the Caribbean films, about the possible role of playing Miss Moneypenny in Sam Mendes’ forthcoming James Bond film.

Harris is a Cambridge-educated actress.

Miss Moneypenny is the flirtatious secretary to Bond’s secret services boss M in the Ian Fleming novels. The character has not been seen in the Bond films since 2002’s Die Another Day.

She was played in that film and its three predecessors by Samantha Bond. Prior to that, Caroline Bliss took the role opposite Timothy Dalton’s Bond in The Living Daylights and License to Kill. The most famous Moneypenny was Lois Maxwell, who essayed the role between 1962 and 1985’s A View to a Kill.
