Jamaican businessman Mark Escoffery-Bey, who was seeking the seat of Bronx Borough President against Ruben Diaz managed to get a woeful 16.02 percent of the votes compared to Diaz’s whopping 83.98 to date.
In the 27th City Council district race, Jamaican-born Joan Flowers also seems to have lost in her bid capturing 21.28 percent of the votes. Daneek Miller came out on top with 24.35 percent according to latest election results.
And in City Council District 28th Councilmember Ruben Wills defended a challenge, including from Hettie Powell of Jamaica, 48.64 to 33.04, respectively, latest numbers show.
The candidates suffered from poor promotion and lack of name recognition.
However, incumbent Caribbean American councilmembers, Mathieu Eugene and Jumaane Williams, successfully defeated Primary challengers, winning the majority of the votes in their district.
