News Americas, LOS ANGELES, CA, Thurs. Nov. 13, 2014: It’s official! Another Jamaican-born singer is a contender for this year’s NBC ‘The Voice’ title.

Kingston-born, Connecticut-based Berklee College of Music graduate, Anita Antoinette, last night was chosen by America’s votes to be part of the music reality show’s Top 12 contenders.

Antoinette received the second highest votes in Team Gwen Stefanie to move on in the competition after Tuesday night’s dynamic performance of ‘All About That Bass.’

The Jamaican singer looked visibly nervous as host Carson Daly called the name of her fellow team member, Taylor John Williams first. But then the relief was palpable as her name was called second and the tears came easily while her mother screamed and jumped up and down in the studio audience. Coach Gwen Stefanie also looked happy at the decision by American voters.

Antoinette’s presence on the show comes on the heels of Jamaican-born Tessanne Chin’s win of Season Six of the show. Like Chin, she undoubtedly has vocal range beyond just reggae and fans got a brief taste of that Wednesday night during her team performance of ‘Riptide.’

Antoinette, who moved to the U.S. at age 8, had secured a four chair turn from all the judges following her blind audition rendition of reggae legend Bob Marley’s ‘Turn Your Lights Down Low.’

It was Antoinette’s second time auditioning for the show after failing to get a chair turn in season three.

Also moving on from Team Blake were Reagan James and Chris Wayne Boyd while Coach Blake Shelton saved Jesse Pitts. Team Adam Levine’s top three this year is made up of Damien Lawson, Matt McAndrew and  Chris Jameson while Team Pharrell Williams’ contenders will be Luke Wade, Danica Shirley and Sugar Jones.

The top 12 contenders will perform live next Monday night, Nov. 17th at 8 p.m. EST/7CST on NBC.
