News Americas, NEWARK, N.J., Mon. June 12, 2012: A Jamaican singer living in the U.S. since 1977 is facing deportation based on a 1997 conviction for aggravated assault.
U.S. immigration authorities say Tedane Anthony Kerr, 52, who sings under the name Teddy Brown, was arrested at his home in Asbury Park on Monday, July 2nd.
An immigration judge will now decide whether he will be deported back to Jamaica or stay in the US.
Kerr’s website says he became the lead singer of the Inner Circle Band by Jah Life and Percy Chin and working with Inner Circle, he did his first LP, “Mr. Brown, Bad Man Wagon.”
This led him to recordings with numerous producers including Bunny Federal, Top Ranking, Music Master, Witty, and Short Diamond, according to the site. His recording include “God Bless the Children,” “I Wish I Knew” and “Victim.”
