News Americas, LOS ANGELES, CA, Fri. Nov. 8, 2013: Jamaicans and Caribbean nationals in the U.S. Diaspora were on the edge of their seats last night as the results from top music show, The Voice, were announced. On edge because the decision would mark the difference between top 12 or home for one of their own – singer Tessanne Chin.

But after almost an hour of sweating it out, the results for Team Adam were announced and Chin was among the top two chosen by America’s votes – and the votes of thousands of Jamaicans and Caribbean immigrants – to make the show’s top 12 for the 2013 season.

A clearly emotional Chin appeared nervous awaiting the results and then as her name was announced after fellow teammate, James Wolpert, she broke down into tears of relief and joy.

The news also was celebrated by many on Twitter and Facebook while other urged Jamaicans to mobilize and buy Chin’s songs on i-Tunes. Unfortunately, the competition ended for Grey and Preston Pohl from Team Adam as well as Shelbie Z and Nik Hawk from Team Blake. Others booted off were Tamara Chauniece and Amber Nicole from Team Ceelo and Stephanie Ann Johnson and Olivia Henken from Team Christina.

The Voice Top 12 going into next week’s show includes Chin along with Wolpert, Will Champlin, Jonny Gray, Caroline Pennell, Kat Robichaud, Jacquie Lee, Matthew Schuler, Josh Logan, Cole Vosbury, Austin Jenckes and Ray Bodreaux.

The Voice returns at 8 p.m. EST on NBC on Monday November 11th.
