NEWS AMERICAS, RIO, BRAZIL, Tues. June 17, 2014: Haitian-American forward Jozy Altidore, the youngest of four children of Haitian parents, suffered a strained hamstring injury during the US’s World Cup game against Ghana. The US, leading 1-0 at the time, went on to win the game 2-1 in exciting fashion.
The 24 year old Altidore has played for the US since 2005 when he played for the Under 17 team. He has played for the US Men’s National Team since 2007. In this time, he has earned 71 caps and scored 23 goals.
Altidore was replaced during the game by Aron Johannsson, 23, who was born in the United States to Icelandic parents.
