News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Sept. 3, 2018: Looks like there is no stopping the number three seed Latin American tennis star, Juan Martin del Potro.
The Argentine player thumped No. 20, Croatia’s Borna Coric, in straight sets Sunday night in his first Round of 16 match. Del Potro won, 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 to move on to the quarter finals of the 2018 US Open.
Del Potro will play in the quarter-finals for a third straight year and sixth time overall, reaching the last eight without dropping a set.
Del Potro has won seven of 11 prior matches with Isner, including a straight-sets victory in the fourth round of the French Open this year. He won the US Open in Flushing Meadows in 2009.
He will take on American John Isner for a semi-final spot. Isner, seeded 11th, defeated Canadian Milos Raonic in a battle of big-servers 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
