Machel Montano Avoids Jail Time
News Americas, PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Mon. Feb. 25, 2013: Trinidad & Tobago soca star, Machel Montano, will not be going to jail after all.
Montano avoided jail time today, during his sentencing appearance. Instead he was slapped with TT$27,000 or US$4,319 in fines by Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor.
He was also ordered to pay $TT13,500 (US$2,109) in compensation to the victims of the brawl.
Montano was found guilty last December of assaulting four people and using obscene language outside a night club in 2007.
