News Americas, ST. JOHN, Virgin Islands, Tues. May 19, 2015: A 39-year-old Aspen, Colorado man with an outstanding arrest warrant on sexual assault charges has been nabbed in the US Virgin Islands.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Field Operations Officers working at the Cruz Bay Ferry Terminal, identified the man as accused sex offender Peter Watkins.

He had arrived at the Cruz Bay Ferry Terminal in St. John, USVI, from Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

Database system checks of the man’s U.S. passport led to the discovery of an arrest warrant by the Pitkin County Regional Emergency Dispatch Center in Colorado.

Watkins was arrested and his custody transferred to the US Virgin Islands Police Department for extradition procedures.

“CBP enhances border security by providing officers with critical data on individuals encountered at our borders”, stated Area Port Director for the United States Virgin Islands Louis Harrigan. “Our officers cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of U.S. laws by ensuring that passengers who have transgressed our justice system and attempt to elude detection are identified and detained.”
