News Americas, MEXICO CITY, Mexico, Tues. July 5, 2011: A suspected Mexican drug lord has been arrested for a series of crimes there, including the murder of US immigration agent Jaime Zapata.
Mexican police arrested Jesus Enrique Rejon Aguilar, leader of the feared Zetas drug gang, Sunday. He is reportedly the third in command of the Zetas, a drug gang formed by former Mexican special forces soldiers.
Rejon, also known as El Mamito, was arrested in Atizapan de Zaragoza, in Mexico State, on Sunday.
The United States had offered a reward of up to five million dollars for information leading to his arrest and possible conviction.
The Zetas have since split with their former paymasters, and have been engaged in brutal turf wars for control of smuggling routes.
