News Americas, CARACAS, Venezuela, Tues. Aug. 2, 2011: Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, is sporting a new look.
As the head of state continues to undergo chemotherapy, he has shaved his head saying his hair has begun falling out.
It is his “new look,” he joked in English at a televised meeting at the presidential palace, while adding that the treatment is going well so far.
“Chemotherapy attacks… the whole body, and the fact that hair falls out is normal and shows the treatment is working,” Chavez said. “My new look. How are you?.”
He has said tests show he has no more malignant cells but he expects to have two more rounds of chemotherapy.
Chavez, 57, underwent a first round of chemotherapy in July after undergoing surgery in June. But the Leo-born President, who celebrated his birthday on July 28th, has made it clear he plans to stand for re-election next year.
