News Americas, PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos, Fri. July 1, 2016: Two current and two retired NFL stars are set to arrive in the Turks and Caicos Islands later this month for the annual Summer Youth American Football Camp.
NFL Cornerback of the Denver Broncos Aqib Talib; NFL Defensive Tackle of the Houston Texan Vincent Wilfork and retired stars – Randy Moss, former NFL Wide Receiver of the San Francisco 49ers; and Matt Lawrence, former NFL Running back Baltimore Ravens will take part in the camp.
The Summer Youth American Football Camp will welcome 100 plus local youth participants from July 13- 16th. Within the camp, participants will learn and practice the fundamentals of American Football, including warm-ups, speed training, running back drills, blocking and tackling, receiving, handoff and pitch exercises, interception and gauntlet, downhill linebacker drills, line basics, special teams, plays and more.
The NFL athletes, along with local coaches and staff, will be teaching the youth athletes a wealth of knowledge from their experiences on and off the field as well as giving them the confidence and endurance to reach towards any future goals within the sport.
“We believe that the skills learned will positively impact youth’s personal lives and academics, which will be transferable to professions in the Turks and Caicos Islands,” said Ryan Jones, founder and executive director of The Turks and Caicos Islands American Football Academy (TCIAFA).
TCIAFA is a budding, non-profit organization created to introduce the island’s youth to the amazing game of American football. With a continuously growing number of participants, the academy currently mentors over 100 adolescents, aged 7-18.
