News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Feb. 15, 2013: Obama drones on.
Sorry that is the title for next week’s commentary not my response to his State of the Union speech, but it could be. Obama droned on, on Tuesday night, Feb. 12th.
Let me tell you the secret about the State of the Union speech you don’t know. Its real purpose is not to tell us anything useful let alone the state of the nation. Not really! It is to give the Power Elite of DC supposedly, a legitimate reason to get together right in front of our eyes. The real purpose is to reaffirm who they are. Reaffirm their membership in the Power Elite!
Nothing proved that better Tuesday night than Obama’s vacuous statement about immigration reform. Did you expect him to show leadership?
You truly are Clueless!
Did you expect him to say anything specific? Are you kidding?
Here dear readers is what Obama said about immigration reform:
Suck it in word for word from his speech …
“Our economy is stronger when we harness the talents and ingenuity of striving, hopeful immigrants. And right now, leaders from the business, labor, law enforcement, and faith communities all agree that the time has come to pass comprehensive immigration reform.”
Get that? WOW!
“Real reform means strong border security, and we can build on the progress my Administration has already made – putting more boots on the southern border than at any time in our history, and reducing illegal crossings to their lowest levels in 40 years.”
Hear that first of all REAL immigration reform means …
“strong border security.” His words!
Let’s pander to the Right Wing! Did Obama mention in the speech that during his first-term, more immigrants were rounded up and deported than by any previous President. Of course not!
The Republicans would have stood and applauded. Wrong signal!
Then President Obama said this …
“Real reform means establishing a responsible pathway to earned citizenship – a path that includes passing a background check, paying taxes and a meaningful penalty, learning English, and going to the back of the line behind the folks trying to come here legally. And real reform means fixing the legal immigration system to cut waiting periods, reduce bureaucracy, and attract the highly-skilled entrepreneurs and engineers that will help create jobs and grow our economy.”
That is the ONLY important part ….
GO TO THE BACK of the line immigrants!
Finally, is Obama going to propose legislation? NO, NO, NO ! Instead he concluded his immigration rant with this …
“In other words, we know what needs to be done.”
What’s that Obama?
“As we speak, bipartisan groups in both chambers are working diligently to draft a bill, and I applaud their efforts. Now let’s get this done. Send me a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the next few months, and I will sign it right away,” Obama said last night to Congress …
Send me a bill … any bill … you design it not me, then I’ll sign it!
What kind of an immigration bill do you think that will be?
Very HEAVY on providing lots more money and armed personnel and barbed wire fences more than we have already – “securing” the borders even more first!
Here comes the part of the legislation Congress will write that will be HEAVY on background checks. Paying lots of taxes and most of all – these are Obama’s words: A MEANINGFUL PENALTY and …..
Going to the BACK of the already LONG line for citizenship!
IF you dig into the nonsense “negotiations” going on among a ‘select’ group of Congress members, (not in the Obama speech), at “best” word out is they will propose a TEN year “path to citizenship” which really will be longer because we have to secure the borders FIRST and then set up a new bureaucracy to process the immigrants. God knows how long that will take!
SO let me guess optimistically that there will be a 15 year path to citizenship and that’s after these struggling mostly low paid 11 million immigrants pay a heavy $$$ penalty – that is Obama’s words!
But again, a 100-year official waiting period is a very optimistic view of what the real legislation will say – more likely 15 years or more …
Now here is what Obama did not say in his State of the Union speech about immigration reform last night. If he was a leader and change master, which he he isn’t, he would have said:
“Let me say this to Congress and the American people about immigration …
Stop grand standing and blowing smoke about immigration reform. I do not intend to stand by and let Congress tell me what immigration reform should be. I am here tonight to tell Congress the kind of bill I will sign …
First of all the bigots and the Right Wing don’t want any immigration reform. Al they want is even more enforcement. Let’s never forget that we should ignore them and likewise immigration phonies like Marco Rubio …
We have all the enforcement we need. I have already deported more immigrants than any President in the United States history and spent more on border security than any past Presidents … ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
As for worrying about employers hiring illegal immigrants and waiting until we have some “perfect” plan to protect these very low paid jobs from immigrants, WAKE UP DUMMIES! The 11 million immigrants who may apply for citizenship will get special papers – a laminated card with photo and thumb print on it. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
I want a path to citizenship legislation – that and nothing else –so forget this “comprehensive” immigration bill nonsense …. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!
SO here is the citizenship legislation I am proposing tonight …
Most of all a FIVE year path to citizenship .. that’s right FIVE years …
That’s right! Let me hear everybody STAND UP and let’s chant …
Right here, right now, on national TV, during the State of the Union ..
FIVE YEARS! FIVE YEARS! FIVE YEARS!
Of course Obama did not and never would do any such thing. He has no idea what leadership means, no matter how much his fellow DC power junkies stood and applauded him last night, and no matter how much the sycophant media more power junkies write about Obama’s “great” (sic) speech. Here is where you get the Truth about Barack Obama …
Every week! Amen.
