News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. May 16, 2014: Question for you. How many countries does the U.S. list as “state sponsor of terrorism?”

Answer

Just 4

They are Iran, Sudan, Syria and CUBA!!

That’s right North Korea did not make the list. Neither did so many other degenerate governments around the world – and there are many – committing horrors of all sorts every day of the year.

Why I am addressing this issue again? Because it highlights Obama’s hypocrisy toward Cuba and how it is working against our best interests. How does Obama, year after year, place Cuba as one of the four most dangerous terrorist nations on Earth when it is no such thing?

Why right now? Because every year, the President must by the end of April, certify what countries are on the list of “ state sponsors of terrorism” for the new year and so the new list was just announced, and Cuba is on it again as it has been religiously since 1982, and the point here is that has not changed at all under President Barack Obama. Every year since becoming President without fail Obama’s list has included Cuba.

Why 1982?. Because Right Wing Ronald Reagan was President of the United States and this was a tantalizing no risk way to show just how tough he was, and Congress loved it too. Not to mention those rich ex-Cubans in Florida.

So let me bring you exactly what the State Department’s “Country Report on Terrorism” says about Cuba not much at all .

“Cuba was designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1982.”

“Cuba has long provided safe haven to members of Basque Fatherland and Liberty (ETA) and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Reports continued to indicate that Cuba’s ties to ETA have become more distant, and that about eight of the two dozen ETA members in Cuba were relocated with the cooperation of the Spanish government.”

“Throughout 2013, the Government of Cuba supported and hosted negotiations between the FARC and the Government of Colombia aimed at brokering a peace agreement between the two. The Government of Cuba has facilitated the travel of FARC representatives to Cuba to participate in these negotiations, in coordination with representatives of the Governments of Colombia, Venezuela, and Norway, as well as the Red Cross.”

“There was no indication that the Cuban government provided weapons or paramilitary training to terrorist groups.”

“The Cuban government continued to harbor fugitives wanted in the United States. The Cuban government also provided support such as housing, food ration books, and medical care for these individuals.”

End of report on Cuba.

Understand this. The entire report on terrorism around the world is 318 pages of small print. By my count it lists terrorist activities in 95 different nations around the world. Some of these reports are horrific and span quite a few pages. Few get as little ink as does Cuba yet Cuba is one of only FOUR countries on Earth subject to the most severe sanctions the U.S. imposes on any country which is reserved for these FOUR.

That said, what is the most significant sentence in the Cuba report which would prove to anyone Cuba is not one of those FOUR nations?
Here it is ..

There was no indication that the Cuban government provided weapons or paramilitary training to terrorist groups.

That’s right. Here it is again …

There was no indication that the Cuban government provided weapons or paramilitary training to terrorist groups.

How can it  be that Cuba is one of the four most evil countries on Earth yet “there was no indication that the Cuban government provided weapons or paramilitary training to terrorist groups?”

Of course it can’t be and even less so under an “enlightened” (sic) President like Barack Obama, but it is anyway.

Why? I know you probably already know and I have written about it before, but this unfortunate story does not get old. It is all about politics.

Specifically about politics and money. But that is redundant. Politics is money. Rich old expatriate Cubans in the US just keep throwing $$$$ at both Democrats and Republicans for only on reason that they continue to keep severe sanctions on Cuba to feed their fantasy of recreating Good Old Cuba of the 40s and 50s with Batista as Dictator and their money as king that could buy rich Cubans anything they wanted.
What you say? That is an absurd fantasy. It does not matter how absurd it is. In politics, with enough $$$$  you can get our government to satisfy any fantasy.

What this whacky policy is costing the rest of us is the ability to open up one of the most significant countries in all of Latin America, and provide wonderful opportunities for Americans while undermining the current regime in Cuba rather than strengthening it with our current policy. Let me make the case others have. Were Cuba not listed as a “state sponsor of terrorism” every year since 1982 and with the most severe sanctions imaginable imposed on it TODAY, Cuba would be a very different nation prospering in the Caribbean as a strong U.S. ally.

Sadly we have a President who does not even have the courage to say there is a lot we may not like about Cuba but at the same time there is no basis for Cuba, being only one of four nations along with Syria, Sudan and Iran, to be listed as a terrorist state.
Therefore, I President Barack Obama am removing Cuba from this list now. The fact that so many nations detailed in our annual Country Terrorism Report are committing acts of terrorism are not on this list but Cuba is simply ridiculous especially since there is no indication that the Cuban government provided weapons or paramilitary training to terrorist groups. It is a travesty.”

Too bad for us we don’t have that President.

Instead we are stuck with Barack Obama for 2-and-a-half more years.

All we can do right now is pray for a better next election…

With Cuba treated the way we do so many other imperfect countries…

We trade with them, we do business with them, we have diplomatic relations with them, we encourage tourism with them, and we promote democracy.
