News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. Oct. 22, 2012: Gobble, Gobble, Gobble ….
The Obamas will enjoy a scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner in the splendor of The White House surrounded by family and their friends of the rich and powerful.
But President Obama should not be tempted to play chess afterwards especially if Benjamin Netanyahu shows up.
While only days after winning an easy victory over a severely disqualified opponent Obama’s pathetic weakness was very quick to return. And the smart players know only too well how weak a President Barack Obama is.
So those of you looking for a new and different Barack Obama in his second term stop kidding yourselves. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did us all a “favor” not making us wait to expose the real Barack Obama.
Benjamin Netanyahu, who blatantly tried to do whatever he could to elect Mitt Romney by literally denouncing Obama during the campaign, waited until later to bomb Iran back to the Stone Age and saddled up so close to Mitt Romney they appeared to be Siamese Twins.
Yet after Obama’s impressive (sic) victory does Netanyahu show any concern about Obama’s success after he so visibly backed the wrong horse? Did Netanyahu at least for a while give Obama some space and acknowledge his victory? WRONG! Netanyahu, a brilliant politician in his own right – at least in understanding American politics if not Middle East politics – shoved it to Obama by ordering the Israel military to assassinate a Palestinian leader before Obama had a chance to say anything or make any moves about a new peace process. Netanyahu cuts the legs out from under him.
What’s his name – the Hamas guy who was killed – did not die for his sins. Instead he got the ultimate axe because far away from his base, Barack Obama won re-election and Netanyahu needed a quick way to show Obama who was boss, telling Obama not to mess with the Israeli right wing.
What is the result in addition to all the violence and deaths and destruction of the last few days? That Netanyahu has effectively prevented Obama from using his victory and his new found “power” and hope that his re-election may have engendered in the naive around the world, and specifically in the Middle East, to try and put pressure on for an Israeli-Palestinian peace process that might have results.
Yes, yes I know there is a cease fire as of this afternoon. So what? That changes nothing except to stop for the moment the destruction of even more places that have nothing to do with military targets whatsoever, such as hospitals, schools, homes, media outlets, etc. etc. and leave some people alive who would have died had the bombs continued to fly.
Wait and see what actually comes of this Cease Fire! Just as nothing has come from other past “gestures” when pressure built for one side or the other to cool it for a while.
So here is the point I am really getting to in this brief Thanksgiving Eve commentary. …
Obama is a weakling – always was and always will be ….
If Obama was not so weak, if he had any balls at all, he would be publicly berate Netanyahu for escalating Middle East violence further without consulting him at all, even though Israel gets billions of dollars in U.S. military equipments for little or nothing – such as all the F-16s they were using these last few days in the Gaza Strip.
And what do the Egyptians, and Iraqis, and Arabs and Libyans, and Syrians and all the rest see? They see an American President being bullied by Benjamin Netanyahu. What does that do for Obama’s ability to be a power broker in the Middle East? Absolutely nothing good!
To hammer home the point of who is in charge of U.S. – Israel relations – the world watched as U.S. Secretary of State yesterday was forced to stand silently in front of the media while Prime Minister Netanyahu lectured her. There is a word for that – it is called humiliation. Do you think anyone in the Middle East did not get the message again?
Bur allow me to once again to inform you what no one else will – even the few in the major media who even have a clue (a very, very small group indeed).
The real damage goes far, far beyond the Middle East, even beyond American foreign relations ….
While the Republicans will beat their chests and cheer Netanyahu on as they should in a perverse way … what they are cheering the most is the fact that they have fresh proof, even after Obama’s re-election, that Barack Obama is weak. That all they have to do is hold firm in the face of his feckless, disingenuous bluster and they can push him around the next 4 years the way they did the first 4 years of the Obama Administration.
The Republicans, who were widely discredited in the past election, who stand for nothing most Americans believe in, and who have no future if they continue on their current path, can in fact do exactly what they have been doing – undermining Obama because he is so weak as he proved by his Silence about the Middle East this week.
After another 4 years of banging around a Democratic President and picking a better candidate in 2016 and with a little luck, although they should have no chance, Republicans may win back The White House in 2016.
Why? Because this Thanksgiving as we all gather around the Table, over in The White House is the biggest turkey of them all ….. Gobble, Gobble, Gobble Mr. President or …
maybe better said – Grovel, Grovel, Grovel!
