News Americas, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Thurs. May 14, 2015: The Jamaican government says it cost taxpayers over US$2.3 million or J$270 million dollars to host U.S. President Barack Obama from April 8-9.
The Jamaica Gleaner quoted Minister With Responsibility For Information, Sandrea Falconer, as saying J$207.7 million or US$1.81 was spent on road rehabilitation and an additional J$66.5 or about US$578 was spent on the various events associated with the visit.
That cost included expenses associated with providing security, media coverage and accommodation, Falconer was quoted as saying.
