News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Weds. Aug. 10, 2011: The Bob Marley Family has pitched in to help bring clean, safe drinking water to developing nations.

Charity:Water helps fund over 1,400 projects in Ethiopia and hundreds of thousands more all over the world. The projects the non-profit helps in Ethiopia include bringing clean, safe water to over 1,300 villages, 12 clinics and 108 schools. The donation from 1Love.org will go to bringing more clean water projects to the area.

The family’s 1Love.org foundation recently donated that $100,000 to Charity:Water. Rita, Ziggy and Rohan Marley along with other members of the Marley family raised the funds through donations and the family’s businesses, The House of Marley and Marley’s Mellow Mood 100 percent natural relaxation beverages.

“We are so deeply grateful to have the support of so many fans, friends, and partners to provide access to clean water for thousands of our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia,” said Rita Marley. “The need is so great and time is so short. 1Love.org provides an online home for those who share our family’s values and lifelong commitment to better the global community for which we must all be responsible.”

According to the UN, 90 percent of the 30,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are of children under five years old.
