Jamaica celebrated 50th years at the Penn Relays.

News Americas, PHILADELPHIA, PA, Sat. April 26, 2014: The 120th running of the annual Penn Relays at Benn Franklin Field in Pennsylvania concluded on Saturday with several historic moments on and off the track. Among the history making moments was the celebration of Jamaican athletes, officials and coaches of 50 years of participation at the relays.

The U.S. men’s 1,600 relay team failed to claim its ninth straight Penn Relays victory when it messed up the final exchange. The Bahamas won the race in 3:00.78 with the American team of Kyle Clemons, Kind Butler, David Verburg and Manteo Mitchell second in 3:03.31.

Team USA also lost the women’s 400 relay as Jamaica crossed the finish line in 42.81 to defend its title.

Bahamas beats the U.S. At Penn
Michael Mathieu (45.7), Demetrius Pinder (44.7), Chris Brown (45.09) and Ramon Miller (45.32) of The Bahamas beat the US men’s Olympic team into second place in the USA vs. the World Men 4×400 race on Sat. April 26, 2014 at the 120th running of the Penn Relays.

Jamaica College won the High School Boys’ 4×400 Championship of America at the 120th running of the Penn Relays on April 26, 2014. Five other Jamaican teams placed second through sixth respectively. St. Elizabeth Tech was second and Calabar, third.

The Bahamas on Fire At Penn Relays
The Bahamas was on fire at the 120th running of the Penn Relays on Sat. April 26, 2014.
The USA v The World men 4x400m relay, turned out to be a disaster for USA, in the baton exchange on the 3rd leg of the race. Images show USA taking Bahamas baton and after realizing what had happened gave it back to Bahamas. The USA ended up being 2nd and Brazil 3rd.
