News Americas, LA PAZ, Bolivia, Thurs. Sept. 8, 2011: The search is on for a plane that went down in the jungles of Bolivia with nine people on board.
Authorities say two Colombians and seven Bolivians were aboard a twin-engine Aerocon Fairchild SA227-DC Metro plane operated by a small commercial airline that went missing as it approached the provincial capital of Beni.
The plane had originated in the eastern city of Santa Cruz and Aerocon official Nelson Kin says air traffic controllers did not receive an alert from an alarm aboard the plane that is designed to go off if it crashes.
